OneCare makes some configuration changes automatically

During installation, Windows Live OneCare makes certain automatic changes to your computer’s configuration. These changes help ensure that your PC is secure and up-to-date. This table provides more information about each change.

Can I change my computer back to its original setting?
Microsoft Update If your computer is not already set to receive updates from Microsoft Update, OneCare makes this change automatically. During OneCare installation This upgrade can increase your computer’s security by extending the Windows Update functionality to other Microsoft programs, including Microsoft Office. Yes, but OneCare does not recommend this. If you stop using Microsoft Update, your computer might not receive important updates for Microsoft products other than Windows.
Automatic Updates If your computer is not already configured to do so, OneCare changes your Automatic Updates setting to Automatic. During OneCare installation This setting configures Automatic Updates to download and install critical and security updates automatically. The Automatic setting helps ensure that your computer receives important updates in a timely manner. Yes, but OneCare strongly recommends keeping this setting. If you turn off Automatic Updates, your computer’s OneCare security status will be lowered.
Phishing Filter in Internet Explorer 7.0 If Internet Explorer 7.0 is installed on your computer at the time of OneCare installation, OneCare turns on the phishing Filter if it is not already turned on and has not been explicitly turned off. During OneCare installation The phishing Filter is designed to warn you if the Web site you are visiting might be impersonating another Web site. By turning this on, you allow some Web sites to be sent to Microsoft to be checked. Information received will not be used to personally identify you. For more information, read the Internet Explorer privacy Statement online. Yes, but OneCare strongly recommends keeping this setting. If you turn off the phishing Filter in Internet Explorer 7, your computer’s OneCare security status will be lowered.
